UPDATE: The NEW Palomino Blackwing Pencils are now available for sale online!
[link]Hey all! Welcome to the Blackwing-602 Group here on DeviantArt!
Earlier this summer, I first learned about the delightful (and historical) pencil called the Blackwing 602.
The pencil, when in production, was the choice writing and drawing instrument for a plethora of people, and when production of the pencil ceased, it became a legend. The pencil has become a coveted and much sought after item for collectors and artists/writers alike.
I LOVE pencil sketching! I created this club to help celebrate the Blackwing 602 pencil, as well as discuss other enjoyable pencils, and the delight that is pencil writing, drawing, and sketching!

[link]Will they ever come back? While I'd have to pick up pace on construction of my Time Machine to go back and get the originals, CalCedar, producers of the Palomino Pencil that is said to be the closest thing you can find to the original Blackwing 602, have secured the rights to the name-- and are currently sending out the NEW Blackwing for a select group to test drive. I'm very excited because these pencils are aiming to be the Blackwing for the future-- allowing those of us who cannot afford the elusive and special original Blackwing 602, to have the experience of the unique design and formula!

[link]How do I participate in this group? All you need to do is be a fan of the Blackwing 602 Pencil, as well as other pencils! You don't need to own a Blackwing to celebrate it! Pencils are awesome things-- they let us create, they let us log. Pencils allow us to create on a very basic, common, and just about universal level. Be it a gestural sketch, an extended drawing, or your written word-- if you appreciate the Blackwing 602 and want to discuss it as well as other Pencils, you're welcome to join!
-SUGGESTING FAVORITES-Found a picture of something drawn with a Blackwing 602? Found some rad pencil sketches? Pencil drawings? Feel free to suggest it to the Group Favorites!
-Submissions-While I work on setting up the group, i'll work on a way for members to submit works to the group! While 602's are just about the hardest pencils to get right now, submissions will be open to all types of pencils used for sketching and drawing.
